Decimal Fraction Bead Frame (Premium Quality)

Decimal Fraction Bead Frame essentially functions in the same manner as the flat bead frame. It is particularly useful for multiplying a number by a multi-digit decimal multiplier. Just as students would do with the flat bead frame, they would change their multiplier (by sliding the checkerboard tiles up to the "units" place of the multiplier column) and would then adjust their multiplicand accordingly). Hands-on learning experiences with this material can reinforce the idea of the commutative property of multiplication and its role in allowing us to re-write our multiplicands/multipliers to complete multiplication problems with decimal fractions. It also allows learners to better understand the rationale of the algorithm/"trick" used when solving abstract multiplication problems involving decimal fractions.
