The earth has different layers. A solid inner core that is surrounded by a liquid outer core, the mantle, and the outer lithosphere. “Litho” means “stone” and that reminds us that this outer crust is stone. Some of that lithosphere is part of continents and is called the continental crust. Part of the lithosphere is under the oceans and is called the oceanic crust. This crust is made of separate plates that slide very, very, very slowly, over the mantle in a process scientists call continental drift. The study of these massive sections of stone is called plate tectonics from the ancient Greek, meaning “building”. The movement of these plates, crashing into each other has built mountains. The lines where they meet, called fault lines, can cause earthquakes and volcanoes!

Where are Alison's Montessori materials manufactured?
Our Premium Line materials are carefully crafted in our own factory in Sri Lanka, where each item is made with the utmost care and attention to detail to ensure exceptional quality and durability.
Does Alison's Montessori accept Purchase Orders (POs) from schools?
Yes, we accept Purchase Orders from public schools and charter schools. The PO must be on a school or organization letterhead, signed by the Director or an authorized representative. You can place the order online and select the PO payment method, then fax us the signed PO.
What should I do if my materials arrive damaged?
Please call or email us immediately if your materials arrive damaged. Our customer service representatives will work to resolve the issue promptly. We ask that you retain the original shipping carton and packing materials.
Do you offer international shipping?
Yes, we ship internationally. For deliveries outside of North America, we typically use DHL, USPS, or any other carrier. Please contact our customer support line for assistance with international orders, especially those over a certain dollar amount, which may require payment via wire transfer.
