Each section of the set offers an opportunity to revisit prior knowledge, and to consider different mathematical concepts that the material demonstrates. For instance, a chain of five 5-bead bars (5x5) will form a perfect square, or five 5-bead squares will form a cube (5x5x5). The Task Cards not only encourage children to work the materials, they also indirectly prepare children to work with the powers of numbers (exponents).
